Excursions to Ayr

An advertisement for day trips to Ayr on the paddle steamer Bonnie Doon, c 1880. She was built in 1876 by T B Seath & Co of Rutherglen and for the next five years she saw service on the Glasgow to Ayr route.

Bonnie Doon She was not a very reliable ship, and earned the nickname "Bonnie Breakdoon". Her owners, Steel, Robertson & Seath sold her to a Welsh company in 1881. She subsequently returned to Scotland to operate around Wemyss Bay before finally going south again to work in the Bristol Channel.
