Glasgow City Chambers

The Satinwood Saloon in Glasgow City Chambers, so-called because all the woodwork and furniture in the room is made from satinwood.

This room was the principal salon or drawing room in the chambers, and was lavishly decorated with silk tapestries like those on the wall on the left of the photograph. Alabaster was also used in fittings such as the Italian Renaissance fireplace in the background.
