The British Steel Corporation bridge spanned the entrance to Prince’s Harbour at the Glasgow Garden Festival. The railway track across the bridge carried the Festival Railway.
The steel bridge was a temporary feature, marking the boundary between Prince’s Harbour and the River Clyde. It was actually a floating bridge and a sophisticated signalling system had to be installed for safety reasons. If the bridge floated even fractionally away from this true position, a warning was activated.
