Public concerts provided by Glasgow Corporation were a popular attraction. Many parks had bandstands constructed for the provision of public musical entertainment, usually in summer. The Winter Gardens at the People's Palace provided a year round venue, with concerts such as the one advertised here by Glasgow Corporation Police Band pulling in the crowds.
