Mairianna Birkeland Clyde was educated at the University of Glasgow where she completed her doctorate on "The Politics and Society of Glasgow, c.1680-1740". She currently teaches urban history and British political history. Her interests include intellectual history, Irish-Scottish studies, and 17th and 18th century Scottish history.
