Museum of Transport

Vintage cars on display at the Museum of Transport. The museum attracts around 500,000 visitors a year and is one of the most popular transport museums in the UK.

The museum opened in the Corporation's former tram depot in Albert Drive (now the Tramway Theatre) in 1964 and moved to premises behind the Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena in Yorkhill in 1987. It has the world's finest collection of Scottish-built cars, including vehicles built by Argyll, Arrol-Johnson and Albion. Many other cars and other forms of transport such as trams, steam locomotives, fire engines, motorcycles and horse-drawn vehicles are also exhibited. There are 250 ship models on display in the Clyde Room, tracing the development of shipbuilding on the River Clyde.
