Haggs Castle 1895

Haggs Castle photographed by Duncan Brown in 1895.

Brown had photographed the castle in 1856 when it was still a ruin. He returned 39 years later, after the completion of the restoration work undertaken by Sir John Maxwell who converted the building as a house and offices for his estate factor.

Duncan Brown (1819-1897) was a talented amateur photographer whose work documents aspects of Glasgow life from the 1850s until the 1890s.
