Pearce Lodge

A view from the north-east of Pearce Lodge on University Avenue, c 1900.

The Scots Baronial gatehouse was designed by A G Thomson and built 1885-1888 with financial assistance from the shipbuilder and politician Sir William Pearce. Several pieces of stonework from the Old College gatehouse in High Street are incorporated in the building, including a date stone from 1658.
