Tait's Directory p58

The first Glasgow directory was published in 1783 by John Tait. This image is taken from a facsimile reprint published in 1871 by Robert Forrester. Page 58 includes surnames from Renny to Ralston.

Brothers James and Matthew Robertson in the Saltmarket were among the leading printers of chapbooks in Scotland from 1782 onwards. By 1777 they had begun to publish children’s books, most of which were reprints of titles published by John Newbery of London.
