An advertisement from the Post Office Glasgow directory of 1926-1927 for Edmiston Brown & Co, electrical contractors and power engineers in St Vincent Street.

The Central Electricity Generating Board was set up in 1926 to create a new National Grid in the United Kingdom, and electricity was seen as a suitably cheap, clean and efficient source of power for the modern world.
